Recycling Options

Every day we make choices about how to dispose of the things we no longer need. Many common household items are hazardous and can threaten our health and the environment if thrown in the trash or poured down the drain. Check out the items below on how to recycle common items.  For further information about recycling and disposal options check out the Washington County Disposal Directory.

Washington County’s Environmental Center provides residents with a free and convenient disposal of household hazardous waste, electronics and recyclables. Proof of residency, such as a driver's license, is required.  View this quick guide on what can and can't be dropped off.  There is also this Going Green Guide.

Stillwater's Single-Sort makes it simple to recycle!  Recycling is collected curbside every other week on your assigned trash day.  Your recyclables must fit inside your recycling cart.  Contact Waste Management if you need a larger cart.

Rinse out food and beverage containers.  No need to remove labels.  Place recyclables directly into the recycling cart. No bagging.  Plastic bags can be recycled at your local retailer or at the Environmental Center.
