To maintain the character and integrity of historic Stillwater, the City requires permits to be obtained before exterior alterations occur to specific structures and sites in historic and design review districts.  To determine if your property is located in a historic or design review overlay district, please lookup your property on the City of Stillwater’s Property Information Lookup website. 

Permits are reviewed and approved by the Heritage Preservation Commission.  To understand if your specific project requires HPC permitting, please call the Stillwater Community Development Department at (651) 430-8820.
