Summary

In 2019, the City of Stillwater reviewed options for a Downtown Street Lighting Improvement Project and conducted an extensive study of the project in 2020. After years of planning and designing, the City of Stillwater is excited to have this project finally break ground.

Beginning Monday, September 16th, the Downtown Street Lighting Improvement Project will start with Granite Ledge boring underground conduit necessary to complete this project. Work is expected to start on Mulberry and Water Street then shift to Myrtle and Nelson Street. Following boring, crews will be removing existing equipment and construct new light foundations. Restoration of pavement and concrete will commence after foundations are constructed.

What to Expect

The installation of lights will impact nearly all of downtown however, the project will be phased to maintain current street lighting, and to minimize parking and access impacts during construction. The City’s goal, as well as Granite Ledge, is to get as much construction and installation done this season as possible.
