In 2006 the Stillwater Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) retained the services of local historian Don Empson to create a process for local recognition and designation of historic structures within Stillwater’s historic neighborhoods.  A copy of Empson’s report is below.

Starting in 2008, the HPC conducted a three-year long process to identify structures in Stillwater’s oldest neighborhoods that contributed to the neighborhood character and were worthy of preservation.  At a property owner’s request, the HPC added the properties to the Heirloom Homes and Landmark Sites program.  To learn more about the program, please visit http://www.stillwater-mn.org/hpc/.
